Save Our Songbirds

with Bird Friendly Certified Coffee

Several years ago, AMAS Board member Jan Lambert started Save Our Songbirds Coffee Club to help protect the wintering habitat of neotropical songbirds and support family farms. You may be aware of the term shade-grown, referring to coffee farms that provide bird habitat by planting their coffee bushes under the canopy of shade trees. The only way you can be sure that your coffee really does benefit bird habitat is by purchasing trademarked Bird Friendly certified coffee. The Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center independently certifies coffee farms in Latin America that are scientifically proven to provide wintering habitat for at least 150 species of migratory songbirds, including 50 species from New England. Currently Birds and Beans Coffee is the only brand available that is triple certified as 100 per cent trademarked Bird-Friendly, organic, and fair-trade.

Beth Hunton coordinates the Save Our Songbirds Coffee Club. Every two months, she takes advance orders for a group shipment of Birds and Beans Coffee at discounted prices. If you are interested in joining the Save Our Songbirds Coffee Club, please contact Beth (eah3891@gmail.com).
